The University of Glasgow is pleased to support the development of Collaborative Online International Learning (COIL) with partners across the higher education sector, to encourage engagement in virtual mobility for students and opportunities to collaborate for staff.

COIL is a valuable pedagogical and cultural learning approach that can facilitate meaningful engagement across the globe, connecting communities, cultures and different approaches to disciplinary and cross-disciplinary learning.

There are many examples of existing COIL partnerships at the University of Glasgow and the University encourages further development in this area. To support this, the Pathways to COIL has been published. This is institutional guidance on how to approach, establish and embed COIL partnerships in courses.

We encourage our colleagues to explore the guidance and consider ways in which COIL collaboration could be embedded in their courses. This is an exciting opportunity to explore virtual mobility and enhance student and staff experience of international collaboration and partnerships.
