Chapel Music
The University of Glasgow Chapel Choir and University Organist
The University of Glasgow Chapel Choir provides music for services and events in the chapel and elsewhere, as well as giving concerts and recitals throughout the academic year, such as the weekly "Choral Contemplations" series in the first and second terms. It also records and tours nationally and internationally, has recorded several CDs, and is available for weddings and memorial services.
There are thirty-two regular members (a mixture of volunteers, paid choral exhibitioners and professional lay clerks) plus around ten associate singers who join us for concerts and some other events. All are auditioned regularly and receive free singing tuition.
The choir is directed by Katy Lavinia Cooper (Director of Chapel Music) and accompanied by Kevin Bowyer (University Organist).
The Chapel Organ was built by Henry Willis III in 1927 and was most recently refurbished by Harrison & Harrison of Durham in 2005. Please see Chapel Organ Specification.

Barokkanerne, with its new artistic director, lutenist Jadran Duncumb, is one of the main pillars of the Norwegian early music scene. In 2018, the ensemble merged with the Norwegian Baroque Orchestra. Both ensembles were founded at the end of the 1980s as the very first independent professional baroque orchestras on original instruments in Scandinavia. Since 2020, a vocal ensemble of soloists has been added to the ensemble's artistic profile, which now covers a rich repertoire from the 1600s to the early 1800s.
In recent years, Barokkanerne has performed at Tage Alte Musik Regensburg, Stockholm Early Music Festival, Helsinki Early Music Festival, Georgian Concert Society Edinburgh and Nordic Lights Festival in Berlin. In Norway, the ensemble, in addition to having its own concert series in Oslo with the festival Oslo Early as an important arena, has visited Olavsfest in Trondheim, Festspillene i Nord-Norge, Oslo Chamber Music Festival and Oslo International Church Music Festival. In 2024, the ensemble will play at the Glogerfestspillene in Kongsberg and the Festspillene in Bergen.
