Find A Solution
Third sector organisations do incredible work to support the community, and our passionate and highly skilled students want to get involved.
We can make it happen.
The Find A Solution programme funds and facilitates internships with third sector organisations during which UofG students work on short-term projects. Projects should be focused on, but not limited to, overcoming challenges or barriers organisations face and supporting the organisation's civic/community engagement goals.
Applications for 2024-25 funding are now open!
Part of the Student Opportunities Hub
How does it work?
- Applications should be focussed on the benefit of a student working on a project to find a solution to a strategic problem/issue/challenge your organisation faces
- You will receive funding to pay your intern at Living Wage (£12.60 per hour)
- All internships must start in June and finish by 10 September 2025. We can discuss working patterns/hours per week to suit your project, as long as all internships finish within the specified time frame
- We will support you throughout the recruitment process to identify the best possible candidate for your internship project
- We will advertise the role for you (you will initially create an account and upload the role on our Glasgow Careers platform) and complete basic quality and eligibility checks on the applications received before sending them over to you to review and organise interviews
- You will onboard, provide a contract and pay the student as an employee and then invoice the university for the funding (the process for this will be agreed in advance of your role going live)
- As an employer, it is your responsibility to ensure all appropriate PAYE, national insurance and pension contributions (where relevant) are processed in accordance with HMRC requirements. For further advice, please either contact HMRC or your own financial advisers
- You must have Public Liability Insurance and Employer’s Liability Insurance in place that will cover the intern (even when working remotely)
- If your project is not selected, we can discuss altnerative options for you to potentially still recruit a student
- All internships are subject to our terms & conditions. If successful, you will be sent a copy to sign prior to the start date of the internship. These can be found further down on this page
