Fri 7th - Sun 16th June, Glasgow Science Festival

Glasgow Science Festival’s Creating Engineers Nature Challenge

The theme for GSF24 is Glasgow’s Transforming. Various plants, insects and animals transform either through metamorphosis (e.g. caterpillars becoming butterflies), colour changes or growth stages.

Use the K'Nex available to model a plant, insect or animal that might experience a transformation.

1) We want you to:

  • Design a plant, animal or insect
  • Explain what transformation they may experience

Show your completed design to the GSF team (GSF info table) and receive a pin badge

The Glasgow Science Festival (GSF) Creating Engineers competition has run for nearly two decades. Each year, we welcome over 12,000 primary 5 & 6 pupils from across the West of Scotland and surrounds to take part.

Pupils work in pairs and compete through four rounds (classroom, cluster, area final & grand final) for the chance to become the Glasgow Science Festival Creating Engineers Champions. The competition tests the pupils on their teamwork, problem solving, construction skills and creativity through engineering-based challenges.

As part of GSF24, we are inviting schools to take part in our Creating Engineers 2024 Classroom Challenge, anytime throughout June. Today we invite you to have a go!

If you're a school who might be interested in taking part in Creating Engineers in the future, you can find out more info on the Glasgow Science Festival Creating Engineers webpages.
