Historic Environment Scotland share the science behind designing, building, and sieging a castle!
What comes to mind when you think of castles? Are they impenetrable fortresses or feats of science, maths, and engineering? They were both! Join us for a fun and hands-on peak into the science behind castles.
Have you ever wanted to design a castle or build a catapult? With this activity supported by a PDF instruction booklet and a video, you will learn about scientific concepts while trying to build and besiege a castle. Join our adventure to build and experiment with different types of catapults and archways using objects that you can easily find in your house while learning about friction, force, gravity, and combustion. Embark on a journey to discover the science behind designing, building, and besieging a castle!
This activity was developed by Glasgow Science Centre in partnership with Historic Environment Scotland.
