New RSE Fellows elected
The Royal Society of Edinburgh (RSE), Scotland’s National Academy, recently announced 80 new Fellows with 3 coming from our College. Congratulations to Professor Ravinder Dahiya, Professor of Electronics and Nanoengineering, James Watt School of Engineering; Professor Muhammad Imran, Professor of Communication Systems, James Watt School of Engineering; and Professor Mark Logan, Professor in Practice, School of Computing Science.
RSE Fellows are recognised as some of the greatest thinkers, researchers and practitioners working in or with Scotland today. Professor Sir John Ball, President of the Royal Society of Edinburgh, said: “It is a privilege to be able to welcome our new Fellows, and we are inspired by the breadth of talent and experience in our Fellowship. Every single individual elected this year has shown exceptional levels of expertise and insight in their chosen field, and their input helps RSE effect real and lasting change in Scotland’s society.
“We look forward to working with our diverse Fellowship who provide a crucial link between the world of academic research and practice with government, business and civil society”.

Research Support Professionals Café Culture
A series of research culture workshops for ‘research enabling’ professional staff are taking place across the University this month. The workshops are based on the Wellcome Trust ‘Café Culture Toolkit’ as adapted for research support professionals by a group led by ARMA UK and UoG. We are the first UK HEI to pilot this approach to the research professional community.
The CoSE workshop took place on Monday 7th March and gave an opportunity for research support professionals at Glasgow to communicate both how they contribute to, and how they are affected by, the current research culture. This will enable better understanding of how our research culture might be enhanced to provide greater parity of opportunity and experience for research supporting staff and how we can better work together with research active staff and others to improve our research culture.
