Over the course of the two days, participants gained practical tools and insights to help them generate robust evidence for their digital health innovations.
On Monday 25th and Tuesday 26th of November, DHVL hosted its first Evidence Generation Bootcamp, bringing together leading experts and healthcare innovators to dive into critical aspects of digital health evaluation. Over the two days, participants gained invaluable tools and insights to help them generate robust evidence for their digital health innovations, equipping them for success in a rapidly evolving healthcare landscape.
Day 1
The first day set the stage with interactive sessions and engaging discussions on essential topics such as medical device regulation, procurement strategies, defining value propositions, and more.
Highlights included:
- PPIE engagement: Don McIntyre (Digital Health & Care Innovation Centre), Chris McParland, and a lived experience expert shared invaluable best practices for co-designing solutions with patients.
- Interactive activities: Participants collaborated on regulatory scenarios, refined value propositions, and practised lay summaries, ensuring a hands-on learning experience.
- A fireside chat with Lenus Health: Wrapping up the day with a candid conversation on the challenges and successes of generating evidence to bring a COPD solution to market.
Day 2
The second day expanded on the themes from day 1, focusing on navigating the wider ecosystem of evidence generation, investment, and real-world validation for digital health technologies.
Highlights included:
- Professor Olivia Wu: Providing strategies for demonstrating clinical and cost-effectiveness to support the adoption of digital health technologies.
- Professor Neil Hawkins: Offering a health economist’s perspective on evaluating value for money in digital health innovations.
- Dr Charlie Mayor: Delivering practical advice on accessing anonymised patient data through NHS Safe Haven environments for trusted research.
Over the two days, the bootcamp fostered meaningful conversations and empowered innovators with the tools and knowledge to support their journey from concept to impactful, real-world adoption. The feedback from attendees reflects the success of the event:
“It was great to learn about regulation/classification and how to overcome a variety of obstacles. Speaker experience was vast and at times positively surprising.”
“One of the most practically useful digital health events I have attended in many years.”
“A great breadth of speakers and topics and I really enjoyed the interactive elements.”
We extend our gratitude to all the speakers and participants for their enthusiasm and invaluable contributions, which played a key role in making the Evidence Generation Bootcamp a truly memorable and impactful experience.
