Are reassessment opportunities available for all summative assessments? Not applicable
Reassessments are normally available for all courses, except those which contribute to the Honours classification. For non Honours courses, students are offered reassessment in all or any of the components of assessment if the satisfactory (threshold) grade for the overall course is not achieved at the first attempt. This is normally grade D3 for undergraduate students and grade C3 for postgraduate students. Exceptionally it may not be possible to offer reassessment of some coursework items, in which case the mark achieved at the first attempt will be counted towards the final course grade. Any such exceptions for this course are described below.
Course Aims
The course aims to:
■ introduce students to a range of issues concerning the relationship between space, place and performance in contemporary theatre and performance and within a wider socio-political context;
■ equip students with knowledge, skills, strategies and tactics applicable in making critically-informed work in the area of site-orientated or spatial practice;
■ encourage students to develop an analytical and reflexive approach towards their own and others' spatial or site-orientated practices;
■ encourage students to develop approaches to using practice as a research tool.
Intended Learning Outcomes of Course
By the end of this course students should be able to:
■ demonstrate an understanding of the developing issues concerning the relationship between space, place and performance in contemporary theatre and performance practice and within a wider socio-political context
■ demonstrate through practice a range of skills and strategies applicable in engaging with relationships between space, place and performance
■ demonstrate and ability to analyse and reflect critically on their emerging practice and on the work
of contemporary practitioners operating in the field of site-orientated or spatial practice
■ demonstrate an awareness of the potential of practice as a tool of research.
Minimum Requirement for Award of Credits
Students must submit at least 75% by weight of the components (including examinations) of the course's summative assessment.
