Through our major research areas we are tackling Scotland’s biggest killers: cardiovascular disease and cancer.

Our range of activity begins with research into genes and progresses to clinical trials. This provides a ‘cell to cure’ approach focused on fundamental understanding, health improvement, disease prevention and cure.

Our outstanding research was recognised in the latest Research Excellence Framework (REF) from 2021 when 97% of our research was evaluated as ‘world-leading’ or ‘internationally excellent.
