The University is one of the UK’s oldest, largest and most dynamic centres for the study of English literature and language.
We offer the following research study options: PhD, MLitt, MPhil, MRes and MFA (Creative Writing).

Prospective and Current PhD Students
English Literature is home to many PhD students (full time and part time) undertaking interdisciplinary research across a range of areas.
PhD students are encouraged to participate in the wide-ranging research culture at School, College, and University levels. PhD students can also apply to work as a Graduate Teaching Assistant during their studies.
