Summary

Pyramids, the sphinx, and the powerful pharaohs who brought them into being, whose ambitions caused their kingdom to collapse. This course follows the course of ancient Egyptian history from its first beginnings in the Predynastic Period (c. 5500 BCE) through the glorious pyramid age of the Old Kingdom (2600-2100 BCE) to the Renaissance of Egyptian culture in the Middle Kingdom (c. 2000-1600 BCE). 

Who is this course for?

Anyone with an interest in history and culture, especially anyone with an interest in the Egyptian world. If you love pyramids, this is the course for you!  

Qualifications/credits

You can gain 10 credits from submitting assessment in this course, which can contribute to a Certificate in Higher Education in Egyptology. 

Assessment

Essay (c.1000-1200 words) (40%)  

Class test (60%) 

Mode of study

This 10-week course will be delivered via 2-hour seminars led by a tutor.

Course materials will be provided online via our learning platform Moodle.

Prospects
