Summary

Learn how to interact with speakers of the language with a higher degree of fluency, being able to understand and express opinions and points of view on a wide range of issues, including social, job related and technical. You will encounter more complex topics, both concrete and abstract, and be able to communicate with others in an appropriate, culturally aware manner.  

Choose this course if you want to: 

- Be able to interact with a degree of fluency and spontaneity on a variety of topics, providing explanations and arguments. 

- Build upon your existing knowledge to produce clear detailed text on a wide range of subjects. 

- Read and identify the content, relevance and viewpoints expressed in contemporary texts. 

- Have opportunities to converse with some fluency and spontaneity with other speakers of the language.  

Who is this course for?

This course is recommended for learners who are independent users of the language and want to consolidate, develop and widen their skills, having completed an Intermediate course or reached B1.2/B1+ level (for example, by having obtained an Advanced Higher or A-Level).  

In this course, you will be working towards level B2 of the Common European Framework of Languages.

Qualifications/credits

Course assessment is optional but on successful completion you will obtain 10 credits at Level 2 (SCQF 8). 

Mode of study

Language classes are interactive and collaborative, with plenty of exposure to the language and many opportunities to practise and learn with your peers.  

You will also have access to Moodle, the University’s virtual learning environment, where you will find additional activities for you to practise what you have learnt in class and to extend your knowledge. 

Prospects

At this level, you should be able to use the language in the workplace, with sufficient accuracy and vocabulary to participate effectively in most conversations on social and professional topics. This is also the minimum level required to access some Higher Education courses.
