The Institute of Health and Wellbeing has been instrumental in evaluating public health interventions such as Scotland’s smoking ban,and Scotland’s Alcohol strategy including the impact of minimum unit pricing on consumption. More recently it has carried out research that showed that former professional footballers are three and a half times more likely to die from neurodegenerative disease than the general public. his study resulted in a ban for kids heading the ball in training.
