I specialise in working with researchers from across the University to develop and facilitate open research practices, supporting compliance with research funders' open access and data management and sharing requirements.
I have developed a particular interest in the intersection between research data management, research ethics and data protection and I sit on the School of Biodiversity, One Health and Veterinary Medicine ethics committee. A lot of my work involves liaising with different support services within the University, harmonising policy and guidance and ensuring that support for researchers is consistent.
I have been involved in national and international projects to create and disseminate resources for data management support and have authored several case studies on different aspects of open research.
My background is in molecular genetics and virology and I worked as a researcher for 16 years before moving into research support. I hold a BSc(Hons) in Molecular Biology and Biochemistry from the University of Durham, a PhD in Molecular Genetics from the University of Cambridge and a PGCert in Academic Practice from the University of Glasgow.
