Biography

I am currently a Lecturer in Central and East European Studies (CEES) at the University of Glasgow, a role I have held since 2023. Prior to this, I contributed to the university as an Honorary Research Fellow and International Coordinator for the IMCEERES International Masters in Central East European, Russian, and Eurasian Studies, starting in 2012. My journey at the university has also included working as a tutor from 2019 to 2023, when I supported the Research Development Programme and CEES2A and CEES2B courses.

In 2018, I earned my PhD in Central and East European Studies from the University of Glasgow. My thesis explored the preservation of native language among migrant communities in Scotland, examining their identities and strategies to overcome poverty. This research builds on my long-standing interest in social inequalities, a theme that has permeated my work since my time as an international expert on DFD projects.

My research interests are broad, encompassing economic sociology and anthropology with a focus on migration, social inequalities, and poverty across Central and Eastern European countries. I have developed a strong competency in quantitative and qualitative research methods, which has enabled me to adopt a versatile and effective approach to research strategy development and management.

I am actively involved in several professional networks, including the Migration and Mobilities Research Group, the British Association for Slavonic and East European Studies (BASEES), and the European Economic Sociology Association. My work is driven by a commitment to understanding and addressing the complex dynamics of migration and social inequality.

Research interests

  • Ethnography, participatory research, and media analysis
  • Transnational migration and networking
  • Poverty, Gender Studies, and Social Security
