Prof Garreton is a prominent Chilean political sociologist and Professor in the Faculty of Social Sciences at the Universidad de Chile. He is currently the holder of the prestigious Simon Bolívar Chair at the University of Cambridge. Professor Garreton has published more than 300 articles in different languages and more than 40 books as author, co-author or editor. In 2007 was awarded the National Prize in Social Sciences and Humanities by President Michele Bachelet.
