In an article published as part of Open Access Week, the Department has been recognised for its contribution to the setting-up of Enlighten, the University's repository for published research.
The Department of Economic & Social History is delighted to have been recognised for its contribution to the setting-up of Enlighten, the University's open access institutional repository service for published research.
Head of Department Dr Duncan Ross was quoted in the article, which was published by the Enlighten team as part of Open Access Week.
"Enlighten is really important to our mission to widen access to our research. As social scientists, we believe absolutely in the value of our work in terms of enhancing understanding of the issues and problems faced by contemporary society and, as historians, we are convinced that solutions to those problems must be informed by knowledge and understanding of the past. There is no point undertaking this research if it is not publicised as widely as possible, and Enlighten plays a very valuable role in disseminating our results and raising the profile of our department."
