'The Baltic States: New Europe or Old?'
This conference was organised to mark the expected accession of Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania to the European Union and NATO during 2004.
The Conference which took place in Glasgow University on 22-23 January 2004 was organised by the Department of Central and East European Studies and the Glasgow Baltic Research Unit, in association with Glasgow City Council.
ESRC Seminar Series 'Transnational issues, Local Concerns: Insights from Russia, Central and Eastern Europe and the UK'
This ESRC-funded seminar series incorporated 5 seminars between December 2003 and October 2004. The overall aim of the series was to encourage new perspectives on understanding change in the countries of central and eastern Europe (CEE) and the Russian Federation. The series engaged academics, practitioners and policy makers in an active exploration of the everyday practices and lived realities of individuals and communities both within the CEE/Russia region, and beyond. The series was organised around 3 main themes contemporary aspects of social, economic and environmental change.
