Welcome to Alison Heppenstall who joins us as Professor of Geocomputation within the School and the Social and Public Health Sciences Unit.  She is also an ESRC-Turing Fellow at the Alan Turing Institute. Prior to joining the University, she was a Professor of Geocomputation in the School of Geography at the University of Leeds and an associate of Leeds Institute for Data Analytics (LIDA). She is an expert in the development of spatial agent-based models (ABMs) with a focus on understanding and simulating behaviour. Her current interests are concerned with linking ABMs to artificial intelligence and machine learning methodologies, real time data assimilation, uncertainty quantification, and the use of individual-based modelling for building digital twins.
