Our School's Dr Matthew Waites has co-written a Foreword for a new book.
Dr Matthew Waites, Senior Lecturer in Sociology, has co-written a Foreword for a new book, 'Envisioning Global LGBT Human Rights: (Neo)colonialism, Neoliberalism, Resistance and Hope'.
Written together with Dr Corinne Lennox from the School of Advanced Study at the University of London, the foreword describes the book as presenting reports from "some of the most fiercely fought battlegrounds of contemporary sexual politics" and includes contributions from many leading LGBT activists internationally, especially from Africa and the Caribbean.
The book is published as open access to download, on a not-for-profit basis.
Dr Waites and Dr Lennox were invited to provide the foreword as editors of an earlier volume, 'Human Rights, Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity in the Commonwealth: Struggles for Decriminalisation and Change' (2013), which was also published by the Human Rights Consortium at the School of Advanced Study.
