Dr Joanna Szostek will join the School in September, consolidating our existing research strength in Political Communication, as well as teaching on our successful postgraduate programme.  Joanna is coming to Glasgow following postdoctoral fellowships at Royal Holloway University, as Marie Skłodowska-Curie Fellow, and University College London. Her research focuses on the role of mass media in relations between states, particularly in the post-Soviet region. Her work on the reception of strategic narratives has been published in leading academic journals, including Perspectives on PoliticsThe International Journal of Press/Politics and New Media & Society (see her project website www.stratnarra.eu for details). Joanna received her doctorate from the University of Oxford, and her professional experience includes several years at the BBC, a secondment to the Foreign and Commonwealth Office, and over eight years of living and working in Russia and Ukraine.
