Lecturer in Comparative Politics from January 2016.
Dr. Sergiu Gherghina will join the School of Social and Political Sciences in January 2016 as a Lecturer in Comparative Politics. Sergiu received his PhD in Political Science from Leiden University in 2012. Prior to coming to Glasgow, Sergiu worked as a lecturer in Political Science at Leiden University, as a research officer at the GESIS Leibniz Institute for the Social Science in Cologne, and as a lecturer in Comparative Politics at the University of Frankfurt. His research interests include party politics, political participation, legislative behavior, democratization, and the use of direct democracy in Europe. He published in a range of international peer-reviewed journals, was the guest editor of two special issues on political participation and appointed elites in Western Europe, and is the author of a monograph on party organization and electoral volatility in Central and Eastern Europe.
