Anna will be joining the School in January 2015 as Research Associate collaborating with Dr Francesca Stella and Dr Moya Flynn on the project “Intimate migrations: exploring the experiences of LGB (lesbian, gay, bisexual) migrants from Eastern Europe and the Former Soviet Union in Scotland”.

Anna recently completed her PhD in Human Geography at the University of Sheffield. Her PhD explored how migration from Poland (a post-communist state) to the UK (a post-colonial state) impacts on people’s values and attitudes towards difference in terms of ethnicity, religion, class, sexuality, gender, age and disability. In particular, it investigated migrant encounters with difference and the circulation of ideas about difference between migrants and their significant others in Poland. This study was part of the European Research Council funded research programme LIVEDIFFERENCE – “Living with Difference in Europe: Making communities out of strangers in an era of super mobility and super diversity” (2010-2014).
