Leading on public affairs and policy functions after degree completion

Daniel O'Malley, graduate of MSc Political Communication

My Masters in Political Communication provided me with the academic foundation to understand and communicate the professional political work I had undertaken up to that point. The MSc programme is designed to give you the tools to more deeply understand political communication. Crucially it provides you the foundation to communicate complex political comms strategy to a broader audience, which in the work environment means senior leadership are entrusting you to be the expert in the field.

Following the Masters, I have worked at senior level in charities promoting trust in politics with the John Smith Centre to leading the public affairs function of Diabetes Scotland where I secured £8.8 million in funding for virtual medical technology. I now work at the Scottish Refugee Council where I lead their public affairs and policy functions. Overall, this Masters programme provides you with the skills and direction for public affairs, and comms roles within industry, third sector and politics.
