Transforming Capitalism through Real Utopias
Professor Erik Olin Wright (University of Wisconsin)
4-6pm, Lecture Theatre 2, Boyd Orr Building
Professor Wright is Professor of Sociology at the University of Wisconsin (Madison). He is one of the world's leading analysts of contemporary class formation, and his work in this area has been of influence across the social sciences and beyond. More recently, in addition to acting as President of the American Sociological Association, he has been a leading figure in the 'Real Utopias' project, which has been concerned with investigating practical proposals and models for social change. Professor Wright will be reflecting on this work in his lecture.
Introduction by Professor Iain Boyd Whyte (University of Edinburgh).
All are very welcome to attend, and to join us for drinks after the lecture.
