Biography
I qualified as a mental health nurse in 2003 in which my substantive clinical background was community practice and substance misuse. In 2012, I moved to work in clinical education for substance misuse and blood borne viruses and in 2014 completed my Master’s in Public Health. Since 2016, I have been working in higher education with a primary focus on mental health (inc. substance use), public health, and prescribing practice. My public health expertise and interest includes working within male sexual health promotion. I completed my PhD in Global Public Health at UCL in 2021, which explored HIV pre-exposure prophylaxis uptake/adherence among men who have sex with men who engaged in sexualised drug use. I have expertise in quantitative and qualitative research methods. Presently, my teaching and research expertise and interest is within multiple health inequity/social justice within minority and deprived populations, particularly sexual & mental health, and related substance use.
