Research interests
First degree and PhD from Glasgow University. Early research, including PhD, was in experimental aesthetics. In recent years, has been involved in a number of (ESRC) funded projects concerning aspects of children's safety and well-being. The first involved an evaluation of a children's personal safety training programme: this led onto two further studies, one of children's understanding of "stranger-danger", the other on children's conceptions of secrets. Is currently being funded by the Scottish Office to evaluate a Parent Information Programme that is run by Family Mediation Scotland for divorcing or separating parents, and which is designed to highlight the needs of the children involved. Teaching area is abnormal psychology.
