Research interests

My interest is in the application of lasers to fundamental research, quantum technology and industry.

I am a member of the LIGO Scientific Collaboration and take an active role in the UK's contribution to the A+ upgrade project, using optical simulation tools to re-design the LIGO detection chamber and implement a balanced homodyne detection scheme.

With industry, I collaborate with companies working in the photonics and quantum technology sectors, consulting on matters of optical design and novel approaches to the assembly of optical systems.

My previous experience includes the development of advanced products at a fast-growing laser company and R&D at the National Physical Laboratory specialising in optical frequency standards and ultra-stable lasers.
