Dr Fiona Speirits
I have been a member of the Quantum Theory Group since its inception in 2013. Initially a Research Associate (first in the CNQO Group at Strathclyde University, before moving to Glasgow University), I became a Research Fellow in 2015 and a Lecturer in 2021. Prior to my life in theoretical quantum optics, I was a Cosmologist (PhD) and Gravitational Wave data analyst (Research Associate) and I am fortunate to have the opportunity to lecture both Astronomy and Physics courses.
My current research interests, while slightly varied, are related by the mechanical properties of light (and more recently electrons). I would like to find ways to use my superficially disparate areas of experience (gravity, electromagnetism and quantum mechanics) to add to my understanding of all of these subjects, as I think there are far more similarities than differences.
