Video & Telephone Conferencing

The group depends upon excellent communications between distributed groups/individuals. We rely upon IP video-conferencing facilities for operational discussions between multiple users at all levels.

Video Conferencing using Vidyo (zero cost, recommended)

• For international calls and conferences we link into Vidyo using H.323, provided via CERN. All group members should register with CERN and download the Vidyo desktop software: http://information-technology.web.cern.ch/services/fe/vidyo.
• You need to register in advance of your first meeting and anticipate a 1 minute start-up time prior to each meeting.
• Users link into a video conference via their laptop using, typically, the inbuilt microphone and camera.

Telephone Conferencing using Skype (zero cost, available but not recommended)

• Where Vidyo is not working, Skype is recommended.
