PhD Opportunities
Our research group is always interested in hearing from potential PhD students, and quite often invite a few to join us each year. Please take a look at the research areas we work in and our staff pages for further information on our work. We also encourage you to get in touch with specific staff members most aligned with your research interests. We are happy to discuss a PhD proposal that is of interest to you and connects with our research ideas.
Please contact Sonja Franke-Arnold to discuss how your research may fit in, proposed projects and supervision, or with any other questions regarding postgraduate research within the Optics Group.
The School of Physics and Astronomy website has further information on postgraduate research opportunities, how to apply, and what funding is on offer (including SUPA prize studentships).
Funded PhD opportunities
We are looking for smart, enthusiastic PhD UK applicants to take up funded places in:
- Quantum Imaging (making images from light that has never seen the object)
- Quantum Storage (using cold atoms to store quantum images)
Anyone interested should e-mail Sonja Franke-Arnold or Miles Padgett
