The School of Physics and Astronomy is pleased to announce that Sarah Croke, Nicolas Labrosse, Pedro Parreira, Peter Sneddon and Claire Neilan have been awarded a College Teaching Excellence Award by the University, for their hard work in Physics 1.
The Teaching Excellence Awards (TEA) recognise and celebrate members of staff whose teaching and contribution to learning is of a particularly high standard. As such, they are an indicator of esteem based on peer recognition of excellence in relation to teaching.
The first-year Physics course is the largest course in the School of Physics & Astronomy, compulsory for students taking Physics to degree level and also taken by students on degrees in Astronomy, Chemistry, Computing Science, Mathematics and more. Our team always strived to create the most supportive, interesting and useful experience for their students as possible.
This award recognises the innovations that were introduced in 2019-20 and 2020-21, which succeeded because of the integrated approach our team took to support each other in the development and implementation. Effective communication and community building were key focuses, recognising the circumstances under which students were starting their University career.
We are delighted that these efforts have been recognised with this award and we are grateful to all colleagues involved in teaching and supporting our students who have contributed to this success.
