The School of Physics & Astronomy has been successful in its application to the Institute of Physics for the accreditation of their Taught Masters Programmes. This is a new award: it was only in 2015 that the Institute of Physics introduced accreditation of one or two-year taught master's programmes to identify programmes that meet the additional requirements for CPhys status for graduates of accredited undergraduate bachelors degree programmes. Accredited MSc programmes automatically meet the master's level education requirement for Chartered Physicist (CPhys) status. The School of Physics & Astronomy is therefore one of the first in the UK to receive this recognition.
