On Sunday 6th October, the particle-physics research groups the the University of Glasgow and University of Edinburgh came together at Dynamic Earth in Edinburgh to celebrate 70 years of the CERN laboratory, with family-friendly events, games and research displays.

At least 600 members of the public visited the event, meeting with scientists and engineers including 10 UofG PhD students, engineers, postdoctoral researchers, and academics. The displays were later visited also by CERN Director General Dr Fabiola Gianotti and Executive Chair of the UK's STFC research agency, Prof Mark Thomson.
