Research interests
I am currently writing a textbook for SAGE Publications titled Your Academic Essay: From Context to Text.
In terms of research, I am developing a project looking at the relationship between EAP syllabus design and knowledge. This involves evaluating teaching academic writing items (both discrete and those that operate within larger rhetorical structures) in relation to the learner's state of content knowledge.
I have more general research interests in inter-textuality, knowledge and innovative apporaches to teaching and course design.
Teaching
My current teaching and course convening roles include convening in-sessional credit bearing programmes for international PGT students (AEBS Speaking/Writing).
I also support in-sessional course provision and development more generally within EAS.
During the summer I convene and teach on the 5 week pre-sessional bridging programme for international students going on to study in the Social Sciences, Arts and Humanities.
