CIOL (Chartered Institute of Linguists) is the leading membership organisation for language professionals and those on the pathway to a professional career using their foreign language skills.

Join us as a Student Affiliate and you will be taking the first step on your career ladder to becoming a Chartered Linguist. As a member of CIOL, you will be part of a worldwide community of 7,000 language students and professional linguists.
Student membership is open to all language undergraduate and postgraduate students. You will normally be working towards:
• a degree in a foreign language
• a combined honours degree which includes a foreign language
• a postgraduate degree in a foreign language, or specialism such as translation or interpreting
• a degree with a compulsory foreign language module
