Founded in 1946, the AUPHF+ aims to represent and nurture all areas of French studies in the UK and Ireland, including French language, French and francophone literature, film, culture, history, politics and linguistics. The AUPHF+ also works with schools and the French Embassy to promote French and Francophone Studies in curricula.

Professor Forcer welcomed the opportunity to build on the strong position of the AUPHF+: ‘It’s a privilege to be coming into this role for French and Francophone studies and to have a chance to promote the subject area not only in higher education but also in schools, working with teachers and pupils. I look forward to talking with colleagues – both those who are members of the Association and those who are not (yet!) – about their experiences and priorities, and helping to promote the vibrancy of teaching, research, and opportunities in French and Francophone studies.’
