Congratulations to Azalea Binti Kushairi, and her supervisors Dr Laura Martin and Dr Mirna Šolić, for successfully completing her PhD into Malaysian folkloric tales.
We are pleased to announce that Azalea Binti Kushairi passed her PhD viva with minor corrections on 12 August 2024. Titled ‘Beyond Kitsch: An Ecocritical Psyche Analysis of Malay Folkloric Tales', the thesis involved a postcolonial, eco-critical, Jungian analysis and re-interpretation of Azalea’s native Malaysian folklore.
Azalea has been supervised by Dr Laura Martin (Lead) and Dr Mirna Šolić (Co-supervisor). The thesis was examined by Professor Susan Rowland (External) of Pacifica University and Professor Nathanial Gardner (Internal).
Dr Martin has said how pleased everyone is with the outcome, and she notes grateful thanks to the co-supervisor and examiners in particular in congratulating Azalea on this hard-won achievement.
