Ricardo de la Fuente argues the influence of the French painter Gustave Moreau across the work of poets Rubén Darío and Julián del Casal, which incorporate themes, motifs or even reproduce the pictorial text.
Ricardo de la Fuente is Professor of Spanish and Hispanic-American Literature at the University of Valladolid. A prolific author and scholar, his research interests include 19th and 20th century Hispanic theatre, Orientalism, and fin-de-siècle Hispanic literature. Some of the writers to whom he has devoted several works are Zorrilla, Ganivet, Unamuno, Julián del Casal, Gómez Carrillo, and Rubén Darío.
