Biography
I mostly teach pharmacology and forensic toxicology at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. I have a Bachelor of Pharmacy (BPharm) degree from the Federal University of Paraná - Brazil, a Master of Research (MRes) in Pharmaceutical Sciences from the same Institution, and a PhD in Forensic Medicine and Science from the University of Glasgow, obtained in 2018.
I have over 8 years of experience in Forensics, including 4 years working at the Scientific Police in Brazil where I was involved in hundreds of forensic toxicology cases.
I always try to keep myself busy with other activities. I am currently an Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) Lead, an academic editor for PLoS One, and external examiner for other HEIs. I have previously chaired the Athena Swan LGBTQ+ Working Group for the Institute of Health and Wellbeing at the UoG.
Together with my BN Team, I have won the MVLS Teaching Excellence Award 2021-22.
Please find more about my research interests below. Feel free to contact me via e-mail, Twitter, or LinkedIn.
Research interests
I am interested in forensic and clinical toxicology, especially in microextraction methods and use of oral fluid as an alternative sample.
I also have interest in health technology assessment, including systematic reviews and health economics. I previously worked on the assessment of health technologies for rheumatoid arthritis, chronic hepatitis B, and diabetes type 1. I have been involved in a costing study of in-vitro fertilisation in Scotland funded by the Scottish Government.
Supervision
I am currently interested in supervising and co-supervising PGR students, and would welcome enquiries in my fields of interest.
I am also open to co-supervision, and happy to take part in research projects.
I would be happy to discuss proposals.
