Dr Rachel Kearns
- Honorary Professor (School of Medicine, Dentistry & Nursing)
Biography
Dr Rachel Kearns is a consultant anaesthetist at Glasgow Royal Infirmary and holds a Chief Scientist Office Career Researcher Fellowship.
Rachel's research involves the linkage of routinely collected health data to study maternal and child health outcomes. Her current research focuses on the effects of maternal anaesthetic interventions and adverse maternal lifestyle choices on offspring health and educational outcomes. Rachel is course lead for the intercalated B Med Sci in critical care and peri-operative medicine.
Research interests
Maternal anaesthetic interventions and offspring health and educational outcomes.
Effect of maternal lifestyle choices on offspring outcomes.
Influence of public health interventions on maternal, obstetric and offspring outcomes.
Use of regional anaesthesia to improve surgical outcomes.
The role of anaesthesia in peri-operative inflammation.
