Biography

Academic Background

Dr Ourania Varsou is a Lecturer in Anatomy and holds a BSc (Hons), an MBChB (Hons) and a PgCert in Mentoring and Coaching with Merit. Ourania completed her PhD in Neuroscience at the Aberdeen Biomedical Imaging Centre with a project investigating new functional and structural magnetic resonance imaging measures for patients with minor acute focal neurology. She is an Associate Fellow of Advance HE and a University of Glasgow Recognising Excellence in Teaching (RET) Fellow. Currently, Ourania is undertaking further postgraduate studies in Academic Practice at the University of Glasgow having successfully completed all components of her PGDip.

Teaching

Ourania teaches human anatomy to science, medical and dental students, from sub-honours to honours levels, with her specialist areas including the head and neck region and ultrasound imaging. She also teaches scientific skills, including statistics for biosciences and scientific poster writing.

Ourania develops and delivers bespoke face-to-face and online teaching on medical/health humanities at the University of Glasgow and, as an invited external faculty member, at several international institutions.
