Dr Jennifer O'Neill

Biography
Dr Jennifer O'Neill focuses on research that examines the interplay between individual and collective rights in health policy. She presented research on healthcare solidarity to the Philadelphia meeting of the World Congress of Bioethics in 2020 and was invited as an expert speaker on Bloomberg Radio's Daybreak Europe show in November 2020 to discuss ethical and legal considerations of the UK's COVID-19 vaccination strategy. Articles by Dr O'Neill have been published in the Journal of Medical Ethics, Bioethics, Ethics & Behavior and the Journal of Technology Assessment in Healthcare. She has also acted as peer reviewer for the Journal of Medical Ethics, Ethics & Behavior and Clinical Anatomy. Prior to taking up her current position within the School of Life Sciences, Dr O'Neill spent a short time working in industry, specialising in pharmaceutical regulation and as a legal researcher for the University of Strathclyde. Dr O'Neill has also lectured internationally in the areas of bioethics, healthcare law and clinical anatomy. A Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy, Dr O'Neill is also a member of the Law Society of Scotland's Health and Medical Law Subcommittee, the Scottish Medico-Legal Society and the International Association of Bioethics. In her current role, Dr O'Neill specialises in curriculum design, science and medical education and has a particular interest in online teaching.
