Biography

Jamie Dickie originally graduated Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) from the University of Glasgow in 2009. He then completed vocational training in general practice and dental foundation posts in hospital and community health services. His hospital service rotations included Restorative Dentistry, Oral Surgery and Oral Medicine. During this time, he also completed membership examinations for the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow’s Faculty of Dental Surgery (MFDS).

From 2011 to 2013, he worked as a Senior House Officer in Restorative Dentistry, Paediatric Dentistry, Orthodontics and Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, before serving as a locum Specialty Dentist in Restorative Dentistry. In 2014, he began specialist training as a Clinical Lecturer/Honorary Specialty Registrar in Restorative Dentistry. During specialist training, he  completed both a Master of Education (M. Ed) in Learning and Teaching in Higher Education and a PhD study focused on the validity of longitudinal assessment within Dental Education.

Upon completion of specialist training, he gained a Fellowship in Dental Surgery (FDS) from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow and was appointed Senior Clinical Lecturer/Honorary Consultant in Restorative Dentistry at Glasgow Dental Hospital and School.

In 2022, he was awarded the “Early Educator Award” by the Association for Dental Education in Europe (ADEE) for his contributions to scholarship as a teacher and researcher.

He currently serves as a Dental Officer in the Royal Navy Reserves.

His areas of interest include Fixed and Removable Prosthodontics, tooth wear, Operative, Preventive, Adhesive, Sports and Digital Dentistry, and Medical/Dental Education.
