Research interests

Biography
Eileen Cowey graduated Bachelor of Nursing with Honours and the McGirr Prize from the University of Glasgow in 1991 and with a Master of Nursing in 1997. Eileen is a registered nurse and her clinical background includes coronary care, intensive care, surgical and occupational health nursing. She serves on the steering committee of the National Stroke Nursing Forum (UK), is secretary of the Scottish Stroke Nurses Forum and sits on the NHS Greater Glasgow & Clyde Stroke MCN Education Sub-committee. Eileen is also a reviewer for various palliative, rehabilitation and nursing journals and stroke conferences.

Eileen joined the Nursing and Health Care School as a stroke care researcher in 2009 and is now also part of the undergraduate and postgraduate teaching teams.

Research interests
Eileen is interested in mixing qualitative and quantitative methods in multi-centre studies, in the use of rapid evidence assessment and systematic synthesis, and in fostering research collaborations. Her research to date has investigated the interface between stroke care and palliative care.
