Biography

Since retiring in 2006, I have continued with some teaching to the School of Life Sciences Honours students in Anatomy, Physiology and Neuroscience. However, my main teaching commitment has been as a Facilitator in the problem based learning classes with first and second year medical students, as well as running exercise-related special study modules for second, third and fourth year medical students. This culminated in the recent award of a Certificate of Excellence by the University of Glasgow medical students, class of 2017.

Throughout my time here I have been very heavily involved in University athletics, particularly with the Hares & Hounds Running Club of which I have been President since 1988! For many years, I have also been the University Court representative on the Council of the Glasgow University Sports Association (GUSA).

I am a Scottish Athletics Association official and among my many roles I’ve been an Ambassador at the events held in Glasgow during the 2012 Olympics and a volunteer at the 2014 Commonwealth Games. I was also the member of the University of Glasgow staff who, along with two students, was selected to be a Queen’s Baton Bearer during the lead up to the Games.

Release of Amines in the Basal Ganglia of the AS/AGU Rat, a Genetic Model of Motor Disorder. Sexual Differentiation of the Reproductive and Central Nervous System. Central Control of Gonadotrophin Release. The Biology of the Three-toed Sloth Bradypus variegatus.
