Biography

Claire is a lecturer in anatomy within the Undergraduate Medical School with a strong interest in anatomical pedagogical research and translational clincial research. She holds a BSc (Hons) in Biomedical Sciences (anatomy) from Cardiff University, and an MSc in Forensic Anthropology and a PhD (Medicine) from the University of Dundee.

Following her PhD looking at endovascular device development, Claire has interests in bioengineering and clinical applications of anatomy, as well as student-centred anatomical education approaches

Teaching

Claire is the Anatomy Lead for the Pre-clinical MBChB programme, as well as the academic lead for the Head, Neck and Neurology Block of Year 2, MBChB programme.

Claire is involved in delivering lectures and practical classes for each body system block and facilites problem-based learning sessions in all teaching blocks in the MBChB programme. She also runs a student-selected component module for 2nd year medical students on developing a digital anatomical resource. Claire also teaches on the BSc anatomy and MSc Biomedical Visualisation programmes and is the deputy lead for the Clinically-Applied Anatomy course on the BSc Anatomy programme. 

Claire was awarded an MVLS college Teaching Excellence Award (Early Career) in June 2024.
