Definition of CD-TREAT
The CD-TREAT (Crohn’s Disease Treatment-with-EATing) diet is a prescriptive and personalised diet. It recreates Exclusive Enteral Nutrition (EEN) by the exclusion of certain dietary components (eg, gluten, lactose, and alcohol) and matching of others (macronutrients, vitamins, minerals, and fiber) as closely as possible using ordinary food. We based the composition of CD-TREAT on Modulen IBD (Nestle, Vevey, Switzerland), the most popular formula used in Europe, and on which we have based our mechanistic studies.
