The main research methods are:
- Postal or administered survey questionnaires – design and validation
- Structured interviewing for individuals, families and groups including non-English
- Dietary intervention in a variety of research settings, for individuals, families and groups using novel approaches to encourage dietary change
- Dietary assessment using validated retrospective and prospective methods
- Body composition assessment using appropriate field methods and anthropometry and validation methods, such as underwater weighing, deuterium dilation, MRI and CT scanning, DEXA
- Clinical trials for diet, exercise and drugs (phase 2 and 3)
- Production and evaluation of Health Promotion Resources
- Metabolic Rate measurement. Biochemical analyses, as metabolic and CVD risk markers, and as biomarkers for dietary intakes
