About us
The Paediatric Neuromuscular team have been delivering clinical trials and research projects at the Clinical Research Facility (CRF) at the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital since 2015, with dedicated paediatric CRF nursing staff support.
Glasgow has developed as a Hub Trial centre for DMD in the United Kingdom, meaning children can now access clinical trials locally in Scotland, previously having to travel to centres in England. Timely access to therapeutic compounds via clinical trials are of paramount importance to our families. Participation in research studies forms an essential part of the clinical journey for many children living with conditions such as DMD and SMA.
The team has close links with the Developmental Endocrinology Research Group (DERG), based at the University of Glasgow and Royal Hospital for Children.
The team have a track record of successful completion of an NIHR portfolio adopted original research study (UKCRN Portfolio Database; Registration Number: UKCRN ID: 20303) through neuromuscular academic training fellowship funded by the Chief Scientist Office of Scotland, Muscular Dystrophy UK and Action Duchenne 2015-2020.
